The energy sector, especially electricity, is considered as a strategic and effective sector for economic growth and prosperity, and the need to provide and guarantee it has led to the presence of the government in this sector. In this regard, the existence of natural monopoly in the electricity industry can lead to corruption due to reasons such as the incompetence and mismanagement of government managers, in addition to imposing high costs on consumers.The aim of the current research was to analyze the effect of government integrity on the electricity losses in Iran during the period of 2000-2022. For this purpose, self-explanatory method with Quantile Autoregressive-Distributed Lag (QARDL) was used. The results indicate that the government integrity in the three quantiles of low (0.25), middle (0.5) and high (0.75) had a negative effect on electricity losses, but this effect increased at high levels of electricity losses. Government investment and access to electricity in three quantiles have a negative effect on electricity losses, but at high levels of electrical energy losses, the negative effect of these variables is reduced. GDP has almost the same negative effect on electricity losses in the low and middle quantile, but it has no significant effect in the high quantile. The error correction coefficient also shows that 53, 50, and 63 percent of short-term imbalances are adjusted in the low, middle, and high quantiles in each period, respectively, and the results converge toward their long-term trends. The results of the Wald test also indicate that the coefficients were symmetrical in the short term in different quantiles and asymmetrical in the long term.
