The United States, with the most advanced scientific and research infrastructure in the world, has used science diplomacy as a tool to advance its national interests.<br><br>In the structure of foreign policy implementation in the United States, the State Department plays a key role and, along with other organizations and institutions, pursues the goals and interests of the United States in foreign policy. This research sought to answer the question of what role the United States Department of State plays in the governance of science diplomacy in American foreign policy. The research method is qualitative and hypothesis-driven, and using a theoretical and conceptual framework within the overall framework of empirical research, it sought to describe and explain the position of the United States Department of State in the governance of science diplomacy. The information gathering tool in this regard was a library and using reliable sources available in articles and databases extracted from the Internet.<br><br>The results of the study show that the US State Department plays a key role in advancing science diplomacy as a strategic tool in the country's foreign policy. The department seeks to maintain and strengthen the scientific and technological position of the United States in the world by establishing and managing international scientific cooperation, participating in global organizations, and using new technologies in diplomatic relations. In a situation where scientific competition between great powers such as China and the European Union has increased, the US State Department, by implementing targeted policies in the field of science diplomacy, is trying to maintain the country's scientific superiority and use it as a tool to increase international influence. دیپلماسی علمی به عنوان یکی از ابزارهای کلیدی سیاست خارجی، نقش مهمی در تقویت روابط بین‌المللی، تبادل دانش و حل چالش‌های جهانی ایفا می‌کند. ایالات متحده آمریکا با دارا بودن پیشرفته‌ترین زیرساخت‌های علمی و تحقیقاتی در جهان، از دیپلماسی علمی به عنوان ابزاری برای پیشبرد منافع ملی خود استفاده کرده است. <br><br>در ساختار اجرای سیاست خارجی در آمریکا، وزارت خارجه نقشی کلیدی دارد و در کنار دیگر سازمان‌ها و نهادهای متولی، اهداف و منافع مورد نظر ایالات متحده را در سیاست خارجی دنبال می‌کند. این پژوهش به دنبال پاسخ به این سوال بوده که وزارت خارجه ایالات متحده چه نقشی در حکمرانی دیپلماسی علمی در سیاست خارجی آمریکا دارد. روش پژوهش از نوع کیفی و از گونه قیاسی فرضیه محور و با استفاده از چارچوب نظری و مفهومی در چارچوب کلی تحقیقات تجربی، به دنبال توصیف و تبیین جایگاه وزارت خارجه آمریکا در حکمرانی دیپلماسی علمی بوده است. ابزار گردآوری اطلاعات در این خصوص، کتابخانه‌ای و با استفاده از منابع معتبر موجود در مقالات و بانک‌های اطلاعاتی بوده که از اینترنت استخراج شده است.<br><br>نتایج پژوهش نشان می‌دهد که وزارت امور خارجه آمریکا نقشی اساسی در پیشبرد دیپلماسی علمی به‌عنوان ابزاری استراتژیک در سیاست خارجی این کشور ایفا می‌کند. این وزارتخانه از طریق ایجاد و مدیریت همکاری‌های علمی بین‌المللی، مشارکت در سازمان‌های جهانی و استفاده از فناوری‌های نوین در روابط دیپلماتیک، به دنبال حفظ و تقویت موقعیت علمی و فناورانه آمریکا در جهان است. در شرایطی که رقابت علمی میان قدرت‌های بزرگ مانند چین و اتحادیه اروپا افزایش یافته است، وزارت امور خارجه آمریکا با اجرای سیاست‌های هدفمند در حوزه دیپلماسی علمی، تلاش می‌کند برتری علمی کشور را حفظ کند و از آن به ‌عنوان ابزاری برای افزایش نفوذ بین‌المللی بهره ببرد.
